Sarah and Daniel were the first couple to marry at Stonebarn in 2023. Their Stonebarn wedding story is beautifully captured below by Wild Elk Studios.
They chose our Stonebarn mid-week special package and married on Wednesday 4th January 2023. By marrying early in the new year it gave their family and friends a chance to get away for a little bit of a holiday as well.
They found out about Stonebarn by word of mouth and chose it for their wedding venue because of the multiple locations where they could choose to hold their ceremony and reception (all with amazing views). They also decided on Stonebarn for its luxurious onsite accommodation.
They travelled down the day before the wedding with their bridal party so that they could spend some time setting up and then have dinner together the night before the wedding.
They decided to hold their ceremony at 4pm so that it was nice and shady for the guests. This also meant they had all day to get ready onsite without the stress of having to drive to a separate location for the ceremony. Victoria Edwards of Moving Makeup & Hair travelled down from Rockingham for the wedding and did a wonderful job of the makeup and hair for the bride and her bridesmaids, as well as the mothers of the bride and groom.
Sarah purchased her wedding dress from Amanda Jayne Bridal Wear and she looked absolutely amazing on their special day.
Sarah also wore a dance dress from Lula & Sasha, which she changed into so they could do their Rumba wedding dance.
Daniel kept it simple with a suit from Politix.
Their ceremony was conducted by Candice from Silver Linings Celebrant. She did a fantastic job and made the whole process easy, giving them the easy-going wedding they wanted. The ceremony was held at the Upper Clearing where they used the following Stonebarn furniture, all free of charge: 4 church pews, 10 wooden benches, arbour, wine barrel and signing table.
They walked back to the lodge verandah for their reception in the early evening, just before the sunset over the tree line. They covered the verandah with fairy and festoon lights which made it look spectacular at night time too.
For their reception they had a 3 course meal catered by local company, Two Little Black Birds, from Manjimup. Their guests raved about how good the food was all night.
For the cake, they had a caramel semi naked cake made by Fiona’s Fancies which was made sturdy enough to make the trip from Mandurah to Stonebarn. They also had personalised heart cookies made to go into their wedding favours for their guests which were beautiful, not surprising given that Fiona used to be the Patisserie chef for the Royal Family, Windsor Castle and the Queen Mother!
By holding their reception on the verandah they were able to use the dining room as their dance floor.
They loved having the large space in the dining room as their dance floor for their wedding dance as they actually met at dancing.
They also loved having so many amazing locations at Stonebarn for photos. Sarah’s favourite location was by the old bridge, which is her most loved photo. Daniel really loved the photos taken under wisteria lane.
Daniel tells us that “So many things added up to make such a wonderful, magical day, from the venue, with its countless beautiful locations for ceremony, reception and photos. The quality of the food which was so delicious and looked amazing, and the time we had with our family and friends.”
Thank you so much Sarah and Daniel for sharing your Stonebarn wedding experience with us. We wish you all the best on this wonderful journey, as you build your new lives together.
