Stonebarn Real Weddings: Chanelle & Ian

Chanelle and Ian held their small, intimate wedding at Stonebarn on Valentine’s Day 2025. Zaneta Van Zyl was their photographer for their truly romantic wedding day.

It was just pure fate that they married at Stonebarn. They had always had sneaky getaways down south in Pemberton. Furthermore, it is where they would ‘holiday’ for their anniversary/birthdays etc. Chanelle and Ian were aware of  the Stonebarn products (they are massive truffle fans to say the least). They were also aware of the Stonebarn location being in Pemberton.

Chanelle tells us that in 2019 (roughly 9 months before their first site visit to Stonebarn), she had somewhat of a ‘dream’ (or epiphany maybe?). She dreamt that she would marry Ian at Stonebarn Estate. So, the following year when they were staying in Pemberton, they decided to book a viewing. It was love at first sight (or site rather!). They didn’t even view another location, it was only ever meant to be Stonebarn!

Furthermore, they both have a love for anything ‘Country’ and it plays a big part of their story / history. Chanelle also loves anything with a country chic vibe! They booked our special at the time ‘4 Nights for the Price of 2‘. They travelled down the Wednesday before the wedding, staying at Karri Forest Motel for one night. Chanelle and Ian wanted to be rested and not have to rush to check into Stonebarn on the morning of the wedding to allow ample time to set up and be organised.

As the ceremony did not take place until 3pm on Friday Chanelle had plenty of time to get ready. Allure Beauty & Co applied her makeup and styled her hair.

KM Lash & Brow Artistry also gave her a facial and shaped her eyebrows.

Enlightened Hair Studio coloured her hair.

Chanelle walked down the aisle in her dress from True Society by Tuscany Bridal holding her beautiful bouquet of flowers created by Farmhouse Flowers.

Emily O’Brien from Crazy in Love officiated the wedding at the Upper Clearing. They used all Stonebarn furniture free of charge: the arbour, 4 church pews, 10 benches, half-size wine barrel and signing table and chairs. Chanelle and Ian decorated the rest of it themselves using wrought iron baths, wine barrels, stools and hay bales hired from local resource Trent Nagtegaal.

Then they held he reception back at the lodge on the verandah and dining room. Where guests enjoyed not only drinks supplied from Pemberton Hotel Bottlemart but also Champagne from First Choice Liquor.

Uncle Sams Smoke Shack catered the cocktail style reception with a long graze and canapés.

Equally important, Sweet and Sour Bridgetown made the delicious wedding cupcakes.

Craig Johnston Music was the DJ for the evening.

After their first dance, the photographer took the bride and groom over to the Dam for sunset photos whilst the guests were being served by the caterers. During that time, they were able to actually look around and soak in the surroundings. But also they were able to look back at the Estate and at all their guests out on the verandah, enjoying the setting and surrounds and having a wonderful time all happy and cheerful. That was a very special moment for them!

One of the reasons Chanelle and Ian chose Stonebarn was so that they could decorate it themselves as they love fairy lights and they made sure they had twinkly fairly lights up everywhere for decorations and once the sun started to go down, the whole place lit up with the lights and it was just glowing, it was beautiful.

As Ian and Chanelle reflect on the day they both agree it was just such a perfect day. Although it flew by, it was not stressful, every photo has people smiling and laughing, looking jovial and very much in the moment. “We truly feel we had the best day, exactly as we wished for, exactly as we had envisaged and it truly represented us!”

Thank you Chanelle and Ian for sharing your Stonebarn wedding story with us. Here’s to a joyous life together as you embark upon this love-filled journey.
