Catherine and Richard flew all the way from the UK to marry at Stonebarn on 11th January 2025. Nick Thake captured the beautiful photos of Catherine and Richard’s Stonebarn wedding below. Nick took these at what Catherine calls “the gorgeous, varied and unique backdrops” around the estate. However, he did not take the ‘Priscilla, Queen of the desert photo’ below, on top of the 4 x 4. Instead, someone from the bridal party took this photo after the wedding, providing a great excuse to put their wedding outfits back on!
Catherine and Richard discovered Stonebarn after an extensive Google search during the pandemic lockdown in the UK. Stonebarn was one of 37 venues they visited when they were finally allowed to leave the UK and visit Australia. Not only was Stonebarn the furthest away, but it was also the very first venue they visited. Catherine tell us that “No other venue could compete…Stonebarn has a stunning arrival sequence followed by an unforgettable reveal of the house and dam nestled in the trees.”

They both loved the fact they could stay onsite. This allowed their wedding party to bond and enjoy the spectacular setting. They were also so pleased that they were able to make the venue their own. They certainly added lots of wonderful details. For instance, as soon as they saw the verandah they knew they just had to have one long 100 seater table setup for their reception there. They were also able to host a UK v Australia cricket match!
Catherine and Richard booked our special offer at the time, 4 nights for the price of 2, in 2022. They had originally booked to marry in 2024 but the wedding was delayed for a year due to the arrival of their son.

They travelled down 2 days before the wedding to set everything up at the venue. Catherine tells us how “this was super fun and everyone had a great time installing lights and pre-washing 300 shop bought plates that we brought with us!”
As the wedding ceremony wasn’t until 3pm, the bride and groom had plenty of time to get ready onsite in their luxurious ensuite bedrooms. Kate Robotham styled Catherine’s hair and Jayne Dittrich did Catherine’s makeup. Her wedding dress was from the Luna Novias collection, purchased from The Boutique and Co. While Richard’s suit was from Ferrari Formalwear.

They held the ceremony at the Lower Clearing. Here they used Stonebarn church pews, wooden benches and arbour free of charge. They even used cut logs from the farm to hold photos of love ones either side of the aisle.

Their close friend Nick Bastow was their celebrant and gave the ceremony a very emotional, personal touch.

Scentiment Flowers created the beautiful floral arrangement on the arbour as well as the stunning bouquets of flowers for the bride and bridesmaids.

They had a long-table reception setup on the verandah with furniture hired from Hire Society. Simple & Beautiful Catering provided a delicious banquet meal, while Mint Events Collective served drinks purchased from Pemberton Cellars. Gaebrielle Catalfamo made the cake which featured a 76 year old cake topper from the bride’s Grandma’s wedding.
With no curfew at Stonebarn the celebrations continued late into the night. They used the dining room as their dance floor with music by DJ Dan White from South Sound Events who was “absolutely incredible”.

As they used Warren Bus Service to collect and return their guests to accommodation off site, while others stayed in the lodge onsite. This allowed them to include 3am beer pong in the festivities!
It was so special for Catherine and Richard to be surrounded by so many wonderful family and friends, 30 of which had flown all the way over from the UK! After delaying their wedding for a year, everyone was so excited and the atmosphere was electric.

Thank you so much Catherine and Richard for sharing your Stonebarn wedding story with us. We hope you had a safe flight home and we wish you a lifetime of wedded bliss and a love that is both profound and enduring.
